CES 2025 Outdoor Smart Home Tech – Pool Robots and Robot Lawn Mowers

January 15, 2025

I just got back from the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 in Las Vegas, and here’s everything that I’m most excited about for outdoor smart home tech.

Starting with pool vacuums. Wybot definitely has the biggest set of innovations. Not only have they made their self-docking system much more flexible and easier to install by adding a solar panel for charging, but the Wybot S3 now has an auto empty system that flushes its debris basket into the filtered base station, returning the clean water to the pool and leaving all the debris in a removable bin under the solar panel. Look for the S3 to launch in April of 2025 for just under $3000.

Aiper also showed off their new all-in-one pool cleaner and skimmer. The Scuba X1 Pro Max can clean the bottom of your pool and then using its fully aimable thrusters it can ascend to the surface, dump its water ballast and skim the surface of the pool for the remainder of its battery life.

Aiper also launched the HydroHub, a floating, solar-powered water quality monitor that not only helps you stay on top of your pool’s chemistry but also allows you to communicate with the Scuba X1 Pro by relaying commands via the app from its built in Wi-Fi to the X1 using sonar clicks. X1 Pro Max’s official release date is February 14th, with an MSRP just under $2500.

And if you think those prices are high, Beatbot is in another league On February 10th they’ll launch their new flagship the AquaSense 2 Ultra for $3500 which can also clean the bottom of the pool and then rise to the surface for skimming for up to 11 hours. But coming later in the year is what I think is one of the coolest solutions for these robot pool cleaners: a docking ramp. The docking ramp will the AquaSense 2 Ultra to climb out of the pool and onto its charger, which in my opinion is the best self-charging solution on the market since it not only charges, but it gets all the debris in the bin out of the pool, and most importantly it stops your pool vacuum from prematurely deteriorating from the harsh chemicals found in swimming pools. No official word on release date but coming from Beatbot, you can expect this automated ramp to be pretty expensive on top of the $3500 price tag of the AquaSense 2 Ultra itself.

Coming down significantly in price, Dreame, the robotic vacuum company, is releasing three robotic pool cleaners in in May of 2025. The J1 is a solar powered skimmer only robot that will be under $700, and the Z1 and Z1 Pro are floor and wall cleaning robots that use laser based navigation to map the shape of your pool for complete coverage. The only difference between the Z1 and Z1 Pro is the addition of a light-based remote control on the Z1 Pro that lets you manually drive it and call it to the surface on demand to remove it from the pool. The Z1 will be $1199, and the Z1 Pro will be $1599.

If that’s still too rich for your blood, the least expensive pool robots at CES are being launched by the robotic lawnmower company Mammotion. They’ve got two models in their new Spino series of pool cleaners, with the most affordable E1 being a floor cleaning only model for $399, and the S1 adding wall and waterline cleaning for $599. Both will have Mammotion’s comprehensive two year warranty, and both will launch in April of 2025.

Mammotion also had some exciting news to share about their robotic lawnmowers. This year they are launching a new flagship called the Luba 2 with all-wheel drive, the ability to mow on gradients up to 38 degrees, an all new vision navigation system that allows it to have centimeter level precision, and zero distance edge cutting.

The Luba 2 Mini also has all the same navigation and all-wheel drive features, just built for a smaller yard and lower price. But the mower that I’m most excited for is the new Yuka 2 series that is designed for smaller suburban yards and has all the same auto charging and vision-based navigation but 2-wheel drive for under $900.

Ecovacs also announced a lineup of robotic lawnmowers aimed at suburban yards called the GOAT series, and they’ll have three different models released in Q2 of 2025, one with vision, one with lidar, and one with a standard RTK antenna, but no pricing was available at the show.

And last, if you’ve got a big property, the YARBO aims to be the ultimate lawn care solution. The Yarbo Core is more like a mini robotic tractor than just a mower. In addition to the lawnmower attachment, YARBO also has a snowblower and leaf blower and hopes to release an edger and trimmer in 2025, but YARBO has had some struggles in the past delivering on their promises, so we’ll have to wait and see.

If you’re interested in this type of outdoor automation I’ll be doing comprehensive testing and head-to-head reviews of both pool cleaning robots and robotic lawnmowers in 2025, so make sure you get subscribed if you aren’t already and as always thanks for watching The Hook Up.
