I just got back from the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 in Las Vegas, and here\u2019s all the latest news for local control smart home in 2025.<\/p>

Starting with Shelly. They are really trying to make sure you have no excuses to not use their products. As of 2025 they have smart home relays utilizing all the major protocols including Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth, as well as Matter over Wi-Fi support coming in the next firmware update. The addition that I\u2019m most excited for is an add-on module that adds Lora support to any Gen3 or Gen4 relay for up to 5 km of device-to-device communication.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/p>

Aqara also has some awesome local control additions for 2025, including the G5 Pro camera hub, which is an outdoor PoE camera with a built in Zigbee hub and Thread Border Router. The G5 Pro has Aqara\u2019s ultra-low light image sensors, can survive in extreme temperatures, and it also supports HomeKit Secure video, which I believe makes it the first PoE HomeKit Secure Video camera on the market.<\/p>

Aqara is also releasing a full new lineup of US based switches including single gang switches with all different numbers of buttons, touchscreens, dimmers, and even a full LCD wall panel with speakers and a hub built in.<\/p>

The Aqara FP2 millimeter-wave motion sensor has been one of the most popular on the market for the last two years, and now they have the FP300 which is the first battery powered mm-Wave sensor, relying on a traditional low power PIR sensor to wake the device from sleep mode, and then switch to mm-Wave for more accurate motion information like zones and number of people in the room.<\/p>

Reolink wants to make it easier than ever to have a high quality, locally only security system. Their new Altas line comes in bullet and PTZ form factors and has enough built-in battery to record 24\/7 for seven days before a recharge. Or you can pair it with their new 12 W solar panels for a continuously charging solution that can install anywhere with no wires. They even have an Altas Go version that comes with a cellular sim card and data plans that will be sold directly through Reolink for 24\/7 recording even in the most remote environments.<\/p>

For the best experience, Reolink recommends you pair their Altas lineup with one of their two home hubs, the Home Hub mini which uses its two SD card slots to have up to 1 TB of storage or the Home Hub Pro which can handle up to a 16 TB drive to keep all your recordings and play them back via the Reolink app, or through the HDMI port on the hub itself.<\/p>

And last, Baseus, who mostly makes battery banks and chargers, has a new lineup of local recording security cameras with built-in solar panels that are motorized and can actually move to track the sun for the most efficient charging. They\u2019re offering these new cameras in 2K, 4K, and dual lens versions all recording to their local base station with no subscriptions, cloud dependencies, or monthly fees.<\/p>
